A copper warehouse pendant or Chemistry 101. It might be a little of both to understand the metal finish on these three pendant lights. Chemistry was not my best subject in high school but I find myself wanting to remember the periodic tables. These warehouse pendants come in three different metal finishes. The first is my favorite in a copper finish or the symbol Cu. The second pendant is silver with the symbol Ag and the third is brass. If you recall, both copper and silver are natural elements with their own unique symbols but there is no chemical symbol for brass. Instead, brass is an alloy or a mixture of two metals in different proportions. Brass is an alloy of Copper and Zinc resulting in a chemical formula of CuZn. I’m not sure when you will ever need to know this but it helps define this copper warehouse pendant in relation to the other two. I like all three pendants so let’s get to the task at hand.
Copper Warehouse Pendant
Just because I prefer this copper warehouse pendant doesn’t mean that you can’t hang any of the three. In fact, they would all work well in the same space. You can hang one pendant over the farmhouse sink in the kitchen but I would recommend hanging three warehouse pendants in a row over a long rectangle dining table or the same over a large kitchen island. However, I would not recommend hanging them in three different metal finishes. Vintage industrial lighting lets us break design traditions but that is one rule I would consider not breaking. So in preparation for the next class please make sure you study my next favorite element and that would be Fe.
