If you are waiting to visit Paris this Eiffel Tower wall painting is the next best thing. Painted on a canvas of salvaged metal, this painting depicts the first World’s Fair back in 1889. The Eiffel Tower was built as the main entrance to the Fair by French designer Gustave Eiffel. It was criticized by leading artists and intellectuals for it’s design but it soon became a global icon. It is one of the most recognizable structures in the world.
Eiffel Tower Wall Painting
The Eiffel Tower is constructed of wrought iron lattice work and resides on the Champ de Mars in Paris, France. It stands over 1,000 feet high which is about the same as an 80 story building. It is the tallest building in Paris. At the time, it surpassed the height of the Washington Monument as the tallest man made structure in the world. And it held this title for forty years until the Chrysler Building in New York City was completed in 1930. But when a broadcasting antenna was added to the top of the tower it regained it’s title as the tallest building. The Eiffel Tower has three levels for visitors with restaurants on the first and second floors. The top level has an observation deck which is also open to the public. The first two levels can be accessed using stairs which are over 300 steps to each level. But the top level is generally accessed only by elevator. I get my cardio at the gym so my vote is for the elevator on all three levels. The tower was an instant success at the fair with 30,000 visitors climbing all 1,700 steps to the top. Unfortunately, the elevators were not operational until a few weeks after the fair had opened. But if you don’t think you’re up to making the trip or the climb this painting will do the trick. Just hang this painting on the wall and sit back and relax with your favorite glass of French wine. Cheers.
