You only need three things. A purple sofa, a vintage gold leaf mirror and mid century modern lighting. Surprisingly, just three things can make a great room. Some might think it’s a bit sparse but this space is inviting. Purple isn’t normally my color of choice. But I could see myself sprawled out on this sofa gazing up at the multitude of mid century modern lighting. Almost like stars in the night sky. And every once in awhile I can get up and check my personal style in the vintage mirror. It’s certainly big enough for a full length view.
Mid Century Modern Lighting
At first glance this might seem like too much lighting but it makes a statement. The key to good lighting is not just the fixture but equally the bulb. It doesn’t have to be vintage to use a vintage Edison bulb. These fixtures are clearly mid century modern lighting but no incandescent bulbs here. They are vintage Edison bulbs fully exposed for all to see. No fancy covers or shades. Just the bulbs that cast a warm amber glow to the room below. Or in this case, to me lying on the purple sofa. Yes my feet are up on the sofa too. Is there any other way to relax on a sofa. It’s also a lot of bulbs but no glare and they almost seem to warm my body. I can still read a book, shut my eyes for a quick nap or check myself in the mirror before stepping out. I don’t need much else. Well maybe a nearby refrigerator could come in handy. I’m ready to chill.
