Vintage Grand Prix Artwork

Join one of the most prestigious auto races in the world with this vintage Grand Prix artwork. If you can’t get to the French Riviera then this painting is the next best thing. Touring the glamorous French Riviera has always been on my bucket list. Unfortunately, I keep kicking that bucket down the road. I may never get my James Bond moment but I will gladly settle for this really cool vintage painting. Racing up and down the narrow hillside of Monaco is definitely a James Bond moment.

The Monaco Grand Prix is a Formula One motor race held each year on the Circuit de Monaco. Add it to the Indianapolis 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans and you have the Triple Crown of Motorsport. I never knew there was such an award. Just like this painting, the race is held on a narrow course laid out on the streets of Monaco. There are many changes in the elevation of the course along with tight corners and underground tunnels. It’s considered one of the most demanding tracks in Formula One racing. It’s also dangerous so the racing speeds are relatively slow compared to other major racing events. So who did win the Monaco Grand Prix of 1935? It was none other than Luigi Fagipoli, also known as the Abruzzi robber. A story for another day. Luigi was an Italian racing driver and is still the oldest driver to win a race in Formula One. That’s the checkered flag.
