If you think this vintage metal pendant looks like an umbrella you’re right. It was originally used as a mold to manufacture umbrellas. But with a little ingenuity this mold has been transformed into a vintage metal pendant that can hang from your ceiling. Hang just one pendant or hang a collection of pendants to create a one of a kind lighting display in your home or favorite restaurant. You will have plenty of light and you’ll always be prepared for a rainy day.
Vintage Metal Pendant
It’s no surprise that we have a holiday nearly every month of the year so why shouldn’t there be a National Umbrella Day. There actually is and it’s celebrated on February 10 each year around the world. This was news to me and I’m all for celebrating this vintage metal pendant. Umbrellas have been around for centuries and continue to be actively developed. In the United States, there are so many umbrella patents filed that the U.S. Patent Office employs four full time examiners just to review umbrella patents. As of 2008, the Office has registered over 3,000 active umbrella patents. In fact, Totes the largest manufacturer of umbrellas, has stopped accepting new proposals for umbrella inventions. They’ve been quoted as saying it is near impossible to come up with an umbrella idea that hasn’t already been done. I guess no one suggested making an umbrella into a vintage metal pendant. I will have to get working on that patent. Now where is my umbrella it looks like it’s going to rain today.
