Wood and metal, what a great combination for a clock. This is one big clock and I can’t get enough of it. Made from old wine barrels and genuine rusted metal, you can’t beat this clock. Now if you could just find a wall big enough to hang it on.

This rustic clock can be mixed and matched with country, industrial and even contemporary spaces and still look great. I never was big on digital and this wood and metal clock seals the deal. Move over Big Ben, you’ve got some competition!

Swedish Wood Bench

This Swedish bench has all the right ingredients, solid wood, distressed paint and burlap upholstery. Made during the Gustavian period, circa 1790, this is Sweden’s version of a farmhouse bench or sofa.

This bench has detailed wood carvings throughout and I am crazy about the original paint that is now distressed from years of family service. It’s one big sofa that’s been reupholstered in good old burlap to maintain that vintage feel and all natural style. Now add one tall Swedish Gustavian clock and you’ve got real style circa 2009.

Vintage Clock

You never know when you might stumble upon a great vintage find. Walking down Fifth Avenue I looked up to admire one of the most photographed buildings in New York and I couldn’t help notice this amazing vintage clock. Built circa 1909, this clock has definitely withstood the test of time. The ornate details are reminiscent of a time gone by when skilled craftsman were not such a rarity.

And don’t be fooled by these photos, this vintage clock towers over the sidewalks of New York at a height of about 15 feet. By the way, does any one know what time it is?

I think the clock radio of the 60’s and 70’s is probably considered more retro than vintage. And the old wood case radio of earlier years is antique or vintage. But in either case, this display of both retro and vintage clock radios is eye staggering and so cool.

Vintage Swedish Clocks

Hickory, Dickory, Dock. The mouse would have a long way to run up these clocks! Standing well over 6 feet tall, these curvy case clocks originated in Sweden and were made of all wood and usually painted in creams, whites, blues and grays. Thanks goes to King Gustav III, 1771-1792, for these beautiful french inspired Swedish clocks. They are true classic Swedish design. So enough of the history lesson, enjoy the photos!
